Anatomy of The Eye

Learn more about your eyes and find out some interesting facts you probably didn’t know…

Eye is an organ of many animals and man, that serves for the conversion of light into nerve impulses. Human eye is a steam organ, which acts like a camera: transparent front of the eye breaks light rays projecting reduced and reversed image on the photosensitive cornea where specialized neural cells perform conversion into electrical nerve impulses.

Eye is the most important human sense because it receives 90% of all the information from the environment. Allows conscious perception of light, sight, which among other, allows the discrimination of color and depth perception. Human eye has a visual angle of 200° and can recognize over 10 million shades.

Every eye runs about three pairs of optical muscles: two pairs of flat, and a pair of slanted muscles. Eyeball is movable around all three axes, such as cardanic joints. Eyeball has three decapsulation. External form of white-semitransparent sclerotic and transparent cornea. Sclerotic gives the eye a certain firmness and shape. External ocular muscles take on it (second of Vertex are on the side Orbital: flat and lower lop-sided to connective ring around the optic nerve at the top of Orbital, and the upper hip muscle takes on the wall above bony Orbital).

Deeper than sclerotic is the average eye span or uvea, which consists of fiber, iris and cilia body. It brings circulation to many blood vessels. Fiber containing pigment, which prevents the penetration of light in ocular ball at any place except pupil. Iris color depends on the amount of pigment: if it has more pigment, it is the darker – the highest iris pigment contains dark brown eye and least-pigment has blue iris. Albino people have no pigment in the eyes and iris are therefore clear, so due to reflections of light from the iris blood vessels, and fiber of retina seems that their iris is grey-pinkish.

Inner layer of ocular ball makes retina which has two parts: the optical and blind. Corneas semitransparent membrane is composed of forty types of neural cells. Part of the cornea responsible for the acuity is yellow spot. Yellow spot is the central part of cornea where nerve cells are the most deployed. In addition to yellow spots, there is the beginning of visual nerve, which is resistant to light and its projection in sight is called blind spot. Content of the eye ball makes eyewash, lens and body walleye.

DID YOU KNOW?

EYES are, after the brain, the most complex organ in our body.

EYES have more than two million parts.

EYES forward us 36 000 information every hour.

EYES under the right conditions, can observe a flame of candle at a distance of 14 miles.

EYES contribute with 85% of your overall knowledge.

EYES  can currently run a hundred of muscles and organs in your body.

EYES during an average life cycle can transfer 24 million files of world that surrounds us.
External ocular muscles that move around are the strongest muscles in the human body. If we take into account their “work” – 100 times stronger than their actual needs.
EYEBALL is approximately 2.5 cm in cross section. The front part is exposed outward only by one-third.

EYES are the only organ in the human body that works with 100% of its capabilities without resting night and day.

EYES are your most precious sense, and therefore you need to keep them healthy!
