American Irmgard Holm had an incident which could have tragic consequences had she not been treated immediately by doctors…
Since her last year’s operation of cataract, Irmgard has been using six different types of medicine i.e. eye drops. Accidentally, one day she reached for superglue instead of one of her bottles of medicine which was in a similar package.
She soon felt burning sensation in the eye and tried to wash off the glue. However, it immediately began to act by closing her eye.
– I am no longer young, but I’m not senile either. The bottles were almost identical – Irmgard Holm said, whose eyesight was saved by quick reaction of doctors who removed the glue by powdering the eye.
There are many such cases where patients mix their medicines with glue due to similar packages, and their history goes back even in 1982 so Irmgard Holm hopes that her incident will force manufacturers to change their glue packagings.
