Tired eyes can be the result of hard work, lack of sleep, allergies, infections and stress. Working on a computer and doing paperwork for a long time result in eye strain. And when your eyes are tired, the whole body feels it, so you are less productive.
There are ways to relieve the symptoms. Relax the tired eyes and eye muscles by using natural techniques and exercises.
- Make frequent breaks. Look away from the paper or screen and look into the distance instead of the object that is in front of you. Change your focus to something else every 20 minutes.
- Blink fast, and then close your eyes and relax. Blinking relaxes tense muscles around the eye and hydrates the eye.
- At night sleep at least seven hours (eight would be ideal).
- Make sure you have the appropriate light. Poor light while working on the computer or reading strains the eyes.
- Quickly rub your palms, and then cover your closed eyes with warm hands. Keep your hands until they stop being warm. Repeat as many times as you want.
- Swollen eyes need a cold compress. Use chilled cucumber, cold bags of chamomile or cotton soaked in cold tea (herbal sugar-free). Lie down and hold the wrap for 10 minutes.
- Lie down and put warm tea bags on tired eyes. Keep them until they get cold.
- Go out to get some fresh air and open your eyes wide open.
- Massage the forehead and scalp. Close your eyes and with gentle movements (with the finger tips ) massage the eye area.
- Splash your face with cold water three to five times.
- Relax in a completely dark room for 15 minutes.
Exercises for tired eyes
- Extend your hands so that your fingers are at eye level. Slowly move the fingers towards your body and follow them with your eyes. When your fingers get very close, direct you view into the distance.
- Do not move your head but direct your eyes towards an object on your left. Turn you head to the right slowly while keeping the eyes still focused on the object on the left. Repeat the exercise with on other side as well. Then look at the floor and slowly lift your head up.
- Turn your eyes clockwise 10-20 times. Try to make as wider circle as you can.
