Glasses that make all the food seem tastier and larger…
Scientists from the University of Tokyo have this month presented their new invention. The novelty is a special pair of glasses that give the illusion that the food you eat is bigger and tastier. This is a special utensil designed to trick and assist in weight loss.
Their peculiarity is that while you wear them, they distort the image you see with the help of built-in mini camera, so everything you eat seems larger. Also, healthy food, which many do not consider tasty, gets a whole new impression – glasses have special tubes that emit odors and thereby send a message to our brain that we’re eating something delicious. The study on effectiveness was also conducted on subjects; two groups were formed – control and test group. It turned out that the participants have eaten an average of 10 percent less food while wearing glasses. Another test was conducted in which the food appeared smaller than it was, so they’ve eaten 15 percent more food.
“Deceiving senses or building them using a computer is very important to study virtual reality,” said project manager, a scientist Michitaka Hirose told AFP, adding: “The reality is in your brain.”
