Experts have thought of a simple exercise that could help prevent eye fatigue in front of a computer screen. They say we should be blink 20 times in a row every 20 minutes. This should be combined with the looking away from the screen and 20 seconds of focusing on an object about 20 feet away.
A strategy that could be called ’20-20-20 ‘is designed to solve computer vision syndrome, which affects millions of working in front of a computer screen and those addicted to video games.
Symptoms such as dry and tired eyes, headaches and pain in the neck and joints are usually temporary, but many struggle with these problems on a daily basis and seek medical attention.
The most vulnerable are those who spend three or more hours in front of computers. They can also develop pain in their eyes and vision impairment that requires wearing glasses.
‘Although it may sound a little odd, frequently blinking can help. Every 20 minutes, “said Dr. Edward Mendelson from Southwestern Medical Centre at the University of Texas.
“After every 20 minutes of use, users of computers should rest for 20 seconds and look at something farther than 20 feet. And blink for 20 times, because blinking is a natural way of moistening eyes, so you can refresh them, “he said.
Long looking at the screen is aggravated by the situation in many modern offices where the air is usually dry and not natural.
