Not all sunglasses are equally good…
If we would listen to dermatologists, we should only buy sunglasses that completely cover the area of the eyes, on all sides. But they are not the only ones to ask, and besides – we’re not in the ’80s.
However, it is worth noting that some sunglasses protect the skin less than others, such as those which cover the entire eye area.
‘You should not wear sunglasses with a metal frame on the beach. The metal frames reflect the sun’s rays causing the burning of the upper parts of cheeks and the skin around the cheekbones, “says Vivian Bucay, a dermatologist from New Orleans. Women who wear this type of sunglasses often get freckles on those sensitive areas. You should rather choose glasses with plastic frames.
Experts recommend sunglasses with reflective lenses. ‘This type of glasses is better in blocking UV rays, “says Bucay. This is very important because the skin around the eyes is very prone to sunburns and wrinkles.
