Sam Laing (23) from Great Britain could go blind due to her frequent visits to the solarium, where she didn’t wear safety goggles as she didn’t want to get the white traces around her eyes. The girl is a regular visitor of the solarium for the last ten years, and because of frequent exposure to UV-rays, she got a lump on the eyes that doctors will remove with the operation so she wouldn’t became blind. But she was warned that the operation could damage her eyesight.
“I was shocked by the diagnosis. I did not know that I could go blind from UV rays. Since I reached the age of 19 years, it became important to me to have a tan, so I went tanning, even up to three times a week” – said Sam whose doctors diagnosed her a type of cataract on the cornea that usually have people who live near the equator. Doctors will first operate on her left eye, and then perhaps on the right one.
