We all well know that carrots contribute to eye health. But, carrots are not the only food that can improve the quality of vision – learn what else you can eat to benefit your eyes!
Vegetables
Spinach, broccoli, lettuce and other green vegetables are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin. These ingredients prevent the formation of cataracts and macular degeneration. For healthy eyes eat as many such vegetables at least twice a day.
Berries
Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are rich in antioxidants and thus prevent the aging process, such as the occurrence of cataracts in the eye. At least once a week treat yourself with fresh berries and your eyes will be grateful.
Beta-carotene and vitamins C and E
Excellent protection against cataracts are foods that contain vitamins C, E and beta-carotene. Do not forget zinc, folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12. Eat more citrus fruits, dark grape and algae. If you do not have time to eat fresh food, you can take multivitamin tablets as well.
Omega – 3 fatty acids
Omega – 3 fatty acids are useful for the heart and circulatory system, and some studies even showed a positive effect on the eyes. Therefore, two or three times a week, select a seafood menu for your meal. Most omega-3 fatty acids can be found in salmon and tuna. It is also not a bad idea to take supplements containing these essential acids.
