Macular degeneration is an altered condition of a yellow spot (macula) as a consequence of degenerative changes caused by aging. In developed countries senile macular degeneration is the most common cause of legal blindness.

The exceptional benefits of omega-3 fatty acids are not innovation in science, and recently they were added another function. It has been discovered that a diet rich in these substances can help prevent colon cancer.
Rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids are fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and herring, then cod liver, salmon oil, flax seeds, and Australian and Brazilian nuts.
The research results were published in the journal Ophthalmology.
