Formula F1 and Crizal

Improved performance in Formula F1 thank to Crizal.

After developing a visor for a helmet with antireflective layer for Michael Schumacher in 2002, Essilor Germany has designed and produced a windshield glass with antireflective layer for BMW Sauber F1 team with the goal of improving the performance of drivers. His first effect was experienced by Nick Heidfeld.

The development team managed to fulfill the challenge within only one week during the Montreal Grand Prix where two BMW Sauber drivers won two awards. Machines designed for applying coatings to the classical optical lenses are adjusted so that they could be inflicted to the windshield surface. After a few final details, glasses were checked before they were sent to the first race on March 16th in Melbourne, Australia.

˝ I am very satisfied. The race went very well. I finished second, just behind Lewis Hamilton. Thanks to my antireflective layer on glass, I noticed a great improvement in visibility on the course. ˝ said Heidfeld.
