The eyes are the window of the soul without a doubt. But not only that, eyes can alert you to health problems which you might not be aware of. Check the following clues and find out important information about your body…
Bloodshot eyes
Bloodshot eyes are usually a cause for concern. But, experts say that if you do not feel pain or have blurred vision, you probably do not need to worry. The sun, dust, cold, allergies and dry air can cause severe redness of eyes. Sometimes, coughing can cause cracking of the small blood vessels, which appears as red spots in the eyes.
Dullness
Do you feel tired after reading a few pages of a book? Does your sclera look vague and dull? Do you have dark circles under the eyes? Dull eyes and puffy eyes can be a sign of tired eye muscles and weak blood circulation. Adequate amounts of rest and proper nutrition will provide the necessary nutrients, such as vitamin A, which can help your eyes look more lively.
Yellowness
Most of us know that the yellowing of the sclera may be a sign of liver problems. But did you know that yellowish eyelids can be a sign of high cholesterol? Take a good look at your eyelids – if you see yellow spots, make an appointment with your doctor to check your cholesterol levels and heart health.
Bulging eyes
Unless slightly protruding eyes are a family characteristic – they can mean problems with the overactivity of the thyroid gland, causing the tissue to swell. If, in addition to that, you feel fatigue and weight loss, do not ignore this symptom.
