Exhibition SJAJ 20-23.11.2008, Novi Sad

From Thursday to Sunday, 20-23.11.2008, we were able to visit 13th international exhibition of goldsmiths, watchmaking and optics in Novi Sad, in Vojvodina.

Novi Sad has a population of about 300,000 (more on http://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novi_Sad) and is famous for its organization of one of the biggest European music festival “EXIT”.

Of course, for us was most interesting was optics, but as the goldsmith attractes a large number of visitors, optics was equally well attended. Registered individual optician visitors were about 80. There was a hundred of exhibitors, a quarter of them from abroad.

All three fairs were held in one pavilion. On the right side goldsmith, watchmaking in the middle and on the left side optics.

At the reception with the tickets you could purchase  a CD catalog that contained all contacts of the exhibitors, so if forgot to take a card from someonec, any informatio could be found on the CD. The only objection is they are all grouped into one register instead of spliting them by sector, so it is impossible to list a just optics. It is also necessary to point out an excellent website through which you can get all the information, and see the show about the fair “Fair InfoNet” and shows on the radio.

The fairs should be a novelty and achievements, however fairs in this region don’t have that purpose. Nevertheless, perhaps the biggest news is the opening of the Department of optometry at the University of Novi Sad. A three-year study is consistent with the Bologna Declaration. For this purpose, it was made a web site www.optometrija.rs. This year, the forst generation of students was listed. The first private optical secondary school “Pascani” presented two new books translated into 3 languages, and its journal “My profession“. Essilor has introduced aslope hand  on the Kappa drilling machine and a photo machine for making photos of customers while they try out glasses (as with large diopter without their glasses they can not see their reflection in the mirror).

Yours and ours portal optike.com also successfully initiated the cooperation through opening subpages for Serbia – optike.hr with many new contacts and proposals.

According to the answers, exhibitors were generally satisfied with the achievements at this year’s fair, which is, in contrast to the mood of the exhibitors at the fair in Porec, an unexpected touch of optimism.

To conclude. From the organizational side, the fair SJAJ is above CroOpte in Poreč, the attendance is better, but the fun (which is the main reason for many to come to Poreč) after the fair and in night hours is definitely missing.

For the end, we use the opportunity to call on everybody to the fair in Belgrade (see details in the events calendar) where it is expected a great organization, excellent attendance and great fun, so see you there!

Photos and video material can be seen in  the menu under “Photos and Videos”, and all contacts about the fair you can look under ” Events Calendar“.
