Clever scammers from Cannes…
French police have detained members of the Italian-French poker gang that has been using special contact lenses to read card marked with an invisible marker, and in this way in two days ”scored” around 470,000 Kuna.
Fraudsters have been found this summer in Cannes after provoked suspicion among staff who then reported the case to their superiors. The Italian trio was helped by the French citizens, employees of the casino, who threw marked cards in the system.
Although many doubted the correctness of their gains, the fraud was very difficult to uncover due to the use of new technology.
– We have never seen anything like it in this region. At first we thought they were using cameras, but we did not find evidence to back it up. Later we learned that they were using specially developed contact lenses – said a spokesman for local police station.
The detectives who worked on the case believe that the international poker gang before their arrest successfully operated throughout the whole continent. Five clever crooks are currently in custody and awaiting trial for organized fraud. If found guilty by the court, they could ”win” a maximum sentence of ten years.
