Croatian most popular model became a designer…
Although the season of national and international fashion weeks has recently ended, Croatian most famous model Kristina Šalinović still works very hard.
If you go through the pages of French Vogue for April you will find a great editorial “Femme Fatale” with this young girl from Makarska in the leading role, if you look at the latest fashion shows by Jean Paul Gaultier, Rick Owens and Haider Ackermann you’ll also notice this 22-year old girl on the catwalk.
Also, if you walk into Accessorise stores, there you can find her first designer work – a collection of sunglasses with a Šalinović signature.
– This is my first design job, and hopefully not the last. In this campaign for my sunglasses I was also a designer and a model. Experience was certainly interesting because for the first time I had to think about what would others like, but that it still fits into my style, to be something that I would also wear – Kristina said, adding that she wanted to design sunglasses that are funky and fun, but still elegant enough.
– Since I was suggested to cooperate on this project, ideas completely occupied me; for days I had my notes wherever I went and drew everything that came to my mind, I researched materials and their combinations, trying to visualize what I had in mind. Of course, I had a great deal of help from Accessories people, who gave me directions for the whole process – says the star of Croatian and international runways, who is especially proud on the part of the collection which consists of glasses with clear lenses, which she advises are a great complement to the funky evening look.
Kristina is currently in Zagreb and is working on a collection of jewelry which will be released in autumn.
