Macular degeneration is the altered state of the yellow spot (macula) as a consequence of degenerative changes caused by aging. In developed countries age related macular degeneration is the most common cause of legal blindness.
“Although our study did not confirm that aspirin causes loss of vision, we encourage people with macular degeneration to avoid the use of the aforementioned medication, „says ophthalmologist William Christen of Boston.
The research results were published in the journal Ophthalmology.
